An access template is a tool used to quickly assign predefined access rights to multiple users. This article describes how to open and edit an access template, including changing its name, description, or individual access rows.
An access template is a method used to create and assign a set of access rights to a user quickly and easily, especially when there are multiple users who will need the same access within the system. Editing an access template is a simple way to add, remove, or change access rows in a template or update the title and description of a template.
To edit an Access Template:
- Select the Access Templates option from the left navigation menu under the Admin dropdown:
2. In the Access Templates screen, double click the access template you want to edit.
3. With the access template open, click the Edit button, at the top right of the access table:
4. The Edit Access Template screen will open with the access template selected.
5. The text fields for Template Name and Description are now editable. Enter the desired changes.
6. To edit access rows, click the Edit button at the far-right end of the access row that needs editing:
7. Update the fields in the access row as needed, then click the save icon at the far-right end of the row:
8. To add access rows, click the + Add button, to the bottom left of the access row table:
9. Fill out the required fields in the access row, then click the save icon at the far-right end of the row:
10. The added lines of access will appear in the Access Template grid below the access row table:
11. As lines of access are added, the system will verify them one by one for errors or conflicts.
Note: Adding multiple rows of access with identical information or conflicts will result in an error with the text, "The Access Right you are attempting to add conflicts with Row [#]. Edit or remove one or more of the conflicting lines of Access in order to proceed.":
These errors must be corrected before the access can be saved. Remove the duplicate access row using the Delete row icon at the end of the row:
12. Once you have all the necessary updates to the template, select the Save button at the bottom left.
13. A confirmation message with the text. "Access template has been updated successfully." will display:
