The eOPF system allows you to log in using PIV/CAC for strong federal security or Login.gov as another option. If you're new, you'll need to register with your SSN and DOB, agree to the eOPF Rules of Behavior, and set up security questions.

PIV/CAC Login

Logging in with a PIV/CAC is preferred for eOPF access, offering the strongest federally approved security for sensitive personnel records. If you don’t have a PIV/CAC, you can log in using Login.gov. Instructions for Login.gov are provided below.

Note: Access to the eOPF site is restricted by a defined list of IP Addresses and can only be accessed from your office network or by connecting to your agency's VPN.

  1. Access the eOPF application site: https://opf.opm.gov

  2. Once you reach the site, select Login with PIV or CAC on the PIV or CAC tile.

  3. The 'Select a certificate' window will display.  

    If the information is correct, select the OK button.  

    If the information is incorrect, select the Cancel button and contact your agency’s security office for assistance with your PIV/CAC.

  4. A security window will display, providing a field for entry of the PIV/CAC PIN. Enter your PIN and click the OK button.

  5. If you entered an accurate PIN, the Employee home page will display.

    The employee view home page. This page displays your name at the top of the screen. It contains a list of documents stored in your OPF with a checkbox next to each document. There are also buttons for downloading and printing your documents. At the top right, there are icons for submitting a help desk support request and for viewing your eOPF account profile.

     

    Login.Gov Authentication

1. Click the "Login with Login.gov" button on the Login.Gov tile within the eOPF login page.

2. The user is taken to the Login.Gov website for authentication.

Sign in for existing users on the login.gov website. You may sign into an existing account or create a login.gov account from this page.

3. Enter your Login.gov account credentials including your email address and password. 

4. Next follow the Login.gov prompts to complete two-factor authentication. This step happens outside the eOPF application on the Login.gov platform.

5. Once Login.gov authentication is complete, click the link to return to the eOPF application.
