To: eOPF Customer Agencies
Introduction
The U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) is pleased to announce the availability of the Electronic Official Personnel Folder (eOPF) Documents Request Service (DRS), a secure, public-facing service that enables eligible separated Federal employees to request a copy of their eOPF Employment Folder.
The DRS modernizes the document request process by providing a secure, self-service capability that reduces reliance on manual fulfillment methods for requests to obtain employment records. Separated employees no longer require access to government networks or agency-issued credentials to request and gain copies their records.
The Documents Request Service can be found at: https://myopf.opm.gov
Eligibility
The Documents Request Service is intended for:
- Separated Federal employees whose personnel records are maintained in eOPF.
- Current federal employees whose agency does not furnish government resources to access their own eOPF records (government computer, PIV card, and government issued email address).
The Documents Request Service is not intended for:
- Current federal employees with government furnished equipment (government computer, PIV card, and government issued email address) should not use this service. Current federal employees whose agency participates in the eOPF system should view their eOPF records directly within the eOPF application at https://opf.opm.gov
- The general public, third-party requestors, or individuals seeking records that were never maintained within the eOPF system.
Important Information
Agencies are encouraged to communicate the following information to separating employees:
- Employees should wait at least 30 days after their separation date before submitting a request to allow time for their separation SF-50 and other final documents to be profiled into their eOPF.
- DRS can only provide documents that exist within the employee's eOPF. Records that were never uploaded to eOPF are not available through this service.
- Individuals formerly employed by agencies that did not participate in eOPF should contact the National Personnel Records Center or their former employing agency for assistance.
How the Service Works
1. Sign in securely using Login.gov and complete identity verification (IAL2), if required.
2. Confirm the email address associated with the Login.gov account.
3. Submit a document request through the DRS portal.
4. Receive a fulfillment email within approximately 24 hours containing a secure, password-protected ZIP file available through a time-limited download link.
5. Download and save the eOPF Employment Folder. If the download link expires, the individual may submit a new request through the DRS portal.
Support
Support resources are available through the in-application help, the eOPF Help Desk for fulfillment questions and expired download links, and the Login.gov Help Center for account creation, identity verification, or email management issues.
